I went to the fab man today and im looking at 3200 to 3500 bucks to do a truggy :doah:....or about half to do a 10 point dependening on material....so im thinking about doing my own and ordering a 10 point s&w cage and just building on it on down the line to save on cost....how bad is the install on one of theese???any tips and pointers???

The A pillar, B pillar and halo on my truck are from an S&W 10 point kit.

You will still have to cut and notch lots of tube. Its far from a put together and weld affair.

Basically they bend it and cut the tube roughly to length. If you don't have/don't want a tubing bender and just want the cage, this is a pretty good way to go.

If you're going to tube out your truck, you're better off buying a bender and doing it yourself, IMO. I used the S&W kit because I got it as a gift a couple years ago. I wish I hadn't used it and had just built everything from scratch. Nothing really wrong with it, but I would have like more "rake" on the A pill and for the halo to be longer and a few other things.

I tried that the s&w cage and hated it. Went the other route and got a shop to build me a bad ass cage

The S&W vers the custom built

I have the S&W and it's okay, especially for the price. Some of the fitment isn't as good as a custom job, but it was about 10% of the price you were quoted.

I've got the S&W cage in my truck, I was happy with it. Cost way less then a professional would have charged. It went together pretty easily for me. Only a little cutting notching, nothing major. I think it's a good start for someone that doesn't own a bender.

For $1400 you can buy a 4 seat Ftoy and build it off of your chevy frame. It is DOM also. There is still some fab that needs to be done such as firewall and floors, hanging peddles and stuff like that but if you are going truggy why not go all out?:D

Thats a great idea, but don't forget shipping is gonna cost an arm and a leg to send it it across the country.

LINKAGE

And here is a link to someone on here putting a X-chassis on a Chevy Frame.

Dimensions wise the Ftoy looks like it would sit right on a K5 frame and would be even easier with a truck frame, just cut off the extra. Most guys do that with the toy frames anyway.
