I installed some headers on my jimmy last week and at 6'4" I'm too big to climb in the engine compartment and too short to reach from outside. I end up on a 5 gallon bucket or milk crate which slips out and it just sucks. Back gets sore etc. Before I lay out a few hundred bucks I wanna know if topside creepers are really any good or just end up another piece of crap taking up space.

Never used one, but they seem like they'd be nice. I have a couple of 2x4's screwed together and wrapped with a blanket that I lay across the fenders. I lay my chest on that. Admittedly my chest will be sore from doing this, but it sure makes working on the back of the motor easier.

I considered fabbing one up at work out of 2x4 aluminum beam and an old weight bench. 2x4 wood sounds like a good way to try it and see if it's worth doing. That and a fiberglass hood so it's easily removed or folded all the way open to windshield on my own. Thanks for the idea
