Subscribed. I just got two new rear shafts. This is something im looking for. I wanna see where this goes!
You may have already bought something by now but it thought I would post these. I know you have a good idea what it looks like but I was happy with it so I thought i would show you. I pulled the output shaft out of the transfer case and drilled and tapped it. I put a new bushing in the tail stock to make sure the SYE was supported well.
Can i ask something. how do you replace the bushing??

I am running a Chevy/Dodge hybrid case and have a working speedometer - it just uses a Dodge speedo gear instead of a Chevy and the cable comes out on the opposite side. I didn't do it like that link. I swapped the whole back half of the Dodge case on. It's been discussed in several threads. It requires some TIG welding, but with the pictures and instructions that have been posted it should be possible for you to get that done locally. There is also some question of the strength of drilling the Chevy case for the Dodge tail cone, but I haven't heard of one breaking yet.The only problem is that you lose your speedometer...
