Anyone have this SYE on their NP208?

Subscribed. I just got two new rear shafts. This is something im looking for. I wanna see where this goes!

Sye

You may have already bought something by now but it thought I would post these. I know you have a good idea what it looks like but I was happy with it so I thought i would show you. I pulled the output shaft out of the transfer case and drilled and tapped it. I put a new bushing in the tail stock to make sure the SYE was supported well.

Can i ask something. how do you replace the bushing??

IF you're gonna do the SYE, why not shorten the tail-housing so you can also lengthen the driveshaft?? Seems kinda like only half the solution for the problem...

I did it this way because it was cheaper than buying the shorter SYE and this was a long box truck so length wasn't an issue. This may not be the best set up for the blazer wheel base but it was an option.

just bought the Tom Wood SYE kit and F/R driveshafts. Ugg that was a big purchase. I will try to get pictures up in the next couple days. If you don't see them by then, PM me "WTF?" and I'll get right on it :)

The stuff is at work because I don't have any garage space left. :(

The only problem is that you lose your speedometer...
I am running a Chevy/Dodge hybrid case and have a working speedometer - it just uses a Dodge speedo gear instead of a Chevy and the cable comes out on the opposite side. I didn't do it like that link. I swapped the whole back half of the Dodge case on. It's been discussed in several threads. It requires some TIG welding, but with the pictures and instructions that have been posted it should be possible for you to get that done locally. There is also some question of the strength of drilling the Chevy case for the Dodge tail cone, but I haven't heard of one breaking yet.

But if you want true bolt-on, the options are:
-Tom Woods kit
-Swap to a different case (like 241) and use a bolt-on SYE for that.
-The "long tail" driveshaft superstore solution.

But if you get the Dodge back case welded somewhere, then the whole affair is bolt together - no more work than a T-case rebuild.

I think the Tom Woods kit gets bashed too hard for the price. You have to get a driveshaft no matter how you do the SYE and 1350C/V driveshafts cost some money. A shaft and flange from HAD is like $450.

What I did to save money was to use a stock front output flange on the rear output and just had the driveshaft built to match. This saves $100 (for the flange) since you probably get one for free with your Dodge case.

Subscribed! Guys are reading my mind...wacky.
Imiceman44...where you at in this conversion? It would be worth a trip north for a core swap to me on this.... Just a little road trip!
