anyone make their own custom bumpers?

Here's a pic of the front I built. Can't find a pic of the rear but its now removed and I've opted for a frame cap.

also Rene, did you build thouse bumpers? or have them done?

i like the clevis mounts useing tube, keeps them strate, might think about that for my next set of bumpers

I built those bumpers with my buddy Stan about 18 months ago. The clevis mounts are 1/2" plate, with some slices of 2" round stock welded to each side...then drilled for the clevis pins. The clevis mount plates are bolted directly to the frame using 1/2" grade 8 SHCS's and the remainder of the bumper is attached to them.

The front is done similarly, except for the addition of the winch plate which is flame profiled 1/2" plate.

After having a year and a half to look at it about the only thing I'd do different is make the stinger about 4" taller on the front bumper...

I have a bumper made out of heavy 8" channel on the back. We used to make 2 1/2" & 3" tube bumpers with convex caps & use them for air tanks. Sometimes we would install an Accel air compressor (made for air shocks) under the hood.

here are mine, plate is 3/8", tube is 2" .188 wall & 1.75" .120 wall. i love the front, but the rear is kinda like an anchor.

Here is one that a buddy and I made. It was a homemade front bumper my buddy originally made for a Dodge Ram. When then flipped it upside down and mounted it on the rear of mine then added a receiver and some D-rings. The departure angle isn’t that great but the rearward winch will be nice. More times than not I need help getting out of a jamb more than further into one.

You can kind of see it here when we were on the 4:56 and Detroit locker and Truetrac validation run.

Here's mine. I did the laser/ brake work at a friends shop, the rest was bent from pieces of leftover tube laying around the shop. 1/2" plate (winch plate and mounts/sides), 1/4" plate (fairlead/ skid... it was the thickest the press would brake), 2" 1/4 wall CDST (bottom bars), 2" 1/8 wall (stinger), 1.5" 1/8 wall HREW (bars over the headlights).
