anyone regret disc brakes on 14 bolt?

I do at times, mainly because I pretty much didn't finish the job with all of the correct components.

I currently don't have a parking brake, which I could use quite a bit more than I realized, also, the even though the brakes seem to work pretty good, the pedal seems a bit soft and travels a bit further than a lot of vehicles I've driven.

I like the ease of brake pad replacements now, less weight, looks cleaner, but a few of the things I am missing, I know could be corrected if I were to put more time in to it and get it all together right.

I just keep seeming to read mixed reviews on certain parts, some guys say, oh yeah, this part works great, others say meh, it's the same as stock for me,, so I'm on the fence about what parts I really need to change out to get the feel and workings I would like out of this setup.

what do you have for front brakes? it sounds like you need a larger master cylinder...

Or me?

Truck has hydroboost, 1 1/8" mc if I remember right? It's out of a 1 ton school bus. D60 up front. braided Ss brake lines. I know it's not right but it works and doesn't bother me.

Stomis they don't offer it for 14 bolt so how would I make it work?

Yeah it was really more of a reference for the calipers. Call them an get an application for calipers. Go to the store and pick up a pair and then you gotta find a rotor that will work. Hell the regular 8 lug front rotor MIGHT work. I just dont know. You're in uncharted territory now.

The weld on brackets they sell should be the same as 14bff weld on brackets. IIRC GMs caliper pin spacing was the same thing for a floating caliper for a LONG time.

that was for 4X. too much pedal travel and soft feel are signs of the master too small for the system. here's what I'd do: get the HD calipers with the larger 3 5/32" piston for the front brakes, go up in size 1/8" or so on the master. an adjustable prop valve may be in order, but some guys don't have any problems with the factory one.
