I'm not sure why, but it is true. Wen my trans seal was bad, the fluid would leak back and fill up the transfer case until it would start leaking out of the speedo hole.
The biggest reason is you have forward inertia which makes the fluids want to travel to the rear. Also the t-case when filled to the proper level the fluid level is lower than the input seal so when not moving it is impossible for fluid to travel forward into the trans.
