Anyone running 20" wheels other than the mall crusiers ?

Superduties before '01 had Dana 50s in 3/4 ton and 1 ton SRW applications ONLY.

ALL '01 and up Superduties and '99 and newer F350 DRW, F450, and F550s have ALWAYS had a Dana 60 front.

F450s and F550s also have a bigger lug pattern, bigger brakes, 19.5 tires from the factory I do believe, and a Dana 80/Dana 135 respectively.

As stated above....Dana 50 my ass. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

that is just amazing about there being a 60 in 01 and newer dootys because mine had a 50 and when the axle housing broke ford put in another 50 under warranty /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

could be way off, but i think that 450s have drum brakes and 550s have disc. kinda random, but that's just what i thought.

Actually Dana 60s started showing up in mid year of 2001 in the F250/350 single wheels. All DRW F350s have had Dana 60s from the intrduction of the SuperDuties in late 1998. That includes the F450/550s as well.

Anyway, wouldn't there be a significant weight different, say if you had an aluminum 20" wheel with a 40" tire versus the same size height tire with a steel 15" wheel. I would think it would be alot lighter because of the less amount of rubber used to make the tire.

Re: Anyone running 20\" wheels other than the mall crusiers ?

Actually Dana 60s were in F350s starting back in 1992.
F250s have Dana 50s. When the Superduty came out the Dana 50 when from an IFS axle to a straight axle.
When the superduties came out in 1999 they changed the axles and went to a meteric wheel stud spacing. All duallys were supposed to have dana 60s. The F350 SRW were still supposed to have a dana 60 but it was weaker design than the dana 60s under the old body style trucks that ended produciton in early 1998. Hard to state for fact because we always hear of some buddy that had this or that. FYI there is no 1998 F350s or HD F250, ford just kept making the 97 model til about mid year then rolled out the 99 superduties. Now when you talk F450 and F550 they could have dana 70s or dana 80s in the front, some serious strength. I imagine they look the same as the Dana 50s and Dana 60s but their dimensions are bigger.
