:haha: just funnin..... :wink1:

I actually really like the spots thru the pillar.. my bud had one on his 63 Chevy ambulance... obviously ya gotta take into account hacking a clean pillar, proper install, how much you'd actually use it, etc, etc... but i always wanted one none the less...

What about using the motor from an electric door mirror, fab some kind of mount setup? 4 way adjustment.......Just an idea

I thought about doing something like that on my Arctic Cat

I am just wondering if we are getting close to the same cost as a nice lightbar, that I could just have 2 lights facing forward, one on each end facing outward...and just use a manual spot light for rear facing stuff?

you can get a bottom of the line marine one that spins 270, up/down single spotlight for about $300

Get one of those beer hats.

LOL. Ummm, no Officer, I'm not drinking and driving, or spotlighting, it is just a festive hat and my dog got loose. LOL.

My minds eye just has fun with this one. To funny.

I'd absolutely love to have pillar lights! I have always dug them for some reason. I'm too skeered to drill through my pillars though! :D

it's not hard to drill the holes....the mounting kit comes with a drill guide bushing you put in the bracket.....one bit and done.

Camelback would work too.

It's tea officer!

maybe this is a new thread, but since we are on lights. what type of lightbar could I get for under $300? seems like a light bar might be better than a fixed spotlight....and then just keep a handheld in the back for "finding your dog"

btw, I am looking for that beer hat now....everybody needs one of those right?

Man, if I were in the market for a light bar, I would not buy one today. The LED ones are so much brighter than the regular ones its not even funny.

Not only brighter, but cover more area.
Want to know how much brighter? Does the highway patrol or other LEOs have the new LED flashers in your area yet?

In my area, I am quietly trying to get them removed or modified. I have no problem with officers being seen and not run over, but these things are dangerous. There are some of them that literally are blinding.

There was a cop in the road flagging me down because of debris on the road, and I almost hit him because I could not see him for the lightbar on his car.

The white lightbars they sell now are that bright or brighter. Course, they don't flash.

Trouble is, they are way too expensive. But the price is coming down all the time, and pretty soon you are going to start seeing the regular types being closed out cheap.

i run just the light housing and light for off road lights they sure as he!! light the feilds up at night, i have three of them across the front of my truck and they are more then enough. got them for 35 dollars a peice from a buddies salvage yard, his yard likes to buy old cop cars and most of the are broken and wont rotate any more.

I know this blows your $300 budget all to pieces, but this is an example of what it out there now.

I have a single 5 watt Cree LED in a flashlight that seriously puts out almost as much light as one headlight on my truck.

This unit has 3 watt Crees instead of 5s, but it has 80 of them!

You are talking brighter than daylight.

Of course, there are smaller LED light bars out there, some of which would fit your budget, but I don't know how they would match up to some of the older H3 bulbs.

yeah, this spiraled out of control quickly.

I think I am back to just having hand held spotlights, and then trying to mount a couple of off road lights to my bumper, once I decide how to build my own simple bumpers. i just cant jusitfy the cost of some of these lights knowing that I could really use that money in other places on the rig.

I have a pair off of a CHP car that i'm not going to use. Don't want to be breaking any rules here though you know.

What are you guys ripping off cop cars? The spot lights or the roof light bars? I'm still not sure which direction I want to go on the light bar either.
