Anyone running bigger rims?

How about i won't put big rims on it if everyone will stop using bed liner on the outside of trucks instead of in a bed like it's intended for.

I don't think anyone uses the liner because it looks good.

Martin

I think looks are the key part of this discussion, which, to the OP, is why you aren't getting the responses you want. The vast majority of CK5 users are more concerned with function than appearance.

Which is why my truck is urban Smurf camo with black wheels ... of course, it rarely functions, but that's not the wheels' fault :haha:

Go for it, man! It's your truck.

I tried to sway you in the first post and so has every one else. But ultimately, your call. You say you wanna prove us wrong, I hope you do. But as was said before, there's a reason you don't see 'em. It's not practical for the hardcore offroaders and it just doesn't look good to the resto-mod (clean trucks) crowd - which I am a member of.

I would just caution you to sleep on it and be absolutely sure before you pull the trigger. Wheels and tires aint cheap, so be sure that's the route you wanna go. I'm assuming you've looked at the "what will my truck look like with XX wheels and XX tires" thread.

yeah, ignore me, I'm old and crusty.... :haha:

it's your rig... :waytogo:

but I still stand by the moto metals being an overly played ghey look... I certainly chuckle at every new rig, heep, etc I see running around with em..

to each his own tho! :pimp:

But dey got dem skullz on em, bro!!! You see dat! That's them skullz!!!! And they flat black! Muddered out son! You wanna come with me to pacsun? I need a new flat brimmed hat and longer wallet chain.

I think it's a proportional thing, run a large rim, but better run a real tall tire as well to offset the difference in tire to rim look.

I'm running the 17" H2's with a 35" tire, personally I think it looks about the same, proportionally as a 15' with a 31-33" tire.

Not too much sidewall to make it look like a balloon, but not too little to make it look like it's running on slivers of rubber either.

The Avalanche, although being a 2wd, is running 22's but has enough sidwall to the tires to keep a low profile/sporty look, but not so little as to seem "lowrider-ish"

I have seen a few square body trucks with 20-something inch wheels, but they were also running a large tire, sort of balanced it out a bit although it still did look a bit off, but not nearly as bad if you run that big rim, and a sliver strip of rubber for a tire, on a lifted truck.

I think an 18 or 20 on a 38" tire won't make it look Donkish, I would not go bigger than a 20. And with 9 inches of lift I can easly fit a 38 and maybe even a 40 without cutting the fenders.

Wheels can make or ruin a truck. IMO most of the new larger wheels' style doesn't flow with the lines of the older trucks, but some of them do. I really like the way KMC Diesels look and if I ever switched my truck to a srw sb I would probably run them.

I really like the way this truck looks. I think the proportions are tastfull and it has a modern look. Would I use it for hardcore wheeling? No, but that's what my k5 is for.

Put a smaller, less awful looking wheel on there, and it would look a lot better though.

Yeah, I am blocked from that site. It is probably better for everyone's News Feed. I was getting carried away......

Martin

OP, are you on Facebook? If so, go to that page I was blocked from. (Chris, what was it called again?) There are LOTS of rigs with awful wheels and stupid tall lifts. You can get an idea of how it would look.

That's me being helpful, and not a dick (which is rare).

Martin

That's it! I can't even see that exists anymore. Go there, lots of rigs like you are looking to build.
