From what I've been seeing they seem decent ? They'll be going on a stock fresh 350 tbi motor. I'm just wondering if they're a noticable improvement on a stock motor ? They're cheaper than vortecs and a manifold.

I think just about any aftermarket head is an improvement over the TBI heads. Now, your cam is going to be the weak part of your induction system. Adding a cam to that mix will ensure a good HP/TQ increase, but them heads alone will be quite noticeable.

As long as they've got the "fast burn" style chamber (which most aftermarket heads that aren't stock replacements do) they should be fine/worth it. Realize that unless you have bigger plans for the motor, the TBI heads actually work pretty well.

Timing and fueling will be all wrong, you will need the PROM tuned to fix it. If you are in it that deep, cam swap as mentioned wouldn't be unreasonable either. You will also want to make sure your fuel pump is able to supply enough fuel. No biggie, you can "rent" the fuel pressure tester from autozone for free, other than the refundable deposit.

165 runners seems small to me, if you were to upgrade your cam it seems like you would want a bigger head than 165s.

So i would either put the heads on the stock engine and enjoy it, or if you are planning on swapping for a bigger cam, i would get bigger intake runners because it you get a larger cam but use 165s the cam will be wanting more intake runner most likely.

I want a 300hp 400tq on the low end I'm just not sure which way to get there. My K5 is never gonna have more than 33 A/T and only sees mild off roading and light pop up camper towing. I would like to stay with the tbi and just do EBL tuning (which I haven't bought yet) .

A smaller cam wouldnt outdo them 165s, especially considering your still running stock compression.

a true 300 horse is attainable, with probably 9:1 CR, decent cam meant for torque and mild heads and a aftermarket aluminum intake. That should get you there easy. Stock rotating assembly will be fine.

Depending on what pistons are in the engine, new heads could cure compression and air flow problems. Then just put a cam in it and an edelbrock performer intake or similiar.

165s are plenty of head for wanting low end grunt on a 350ci with a smaller cam. In fact the smaller heads will help push you towards that torque goal sooner in the rpm range.

thats what im saying. with a stock sized cam, i bet they will be pretty good. but if you want to put a bigger cam in i think they would be holding him back.

I would run a hydro roller somewhere in the .440-.450ish range. That would match good with the heads and a regular rpm intake or the low rise air gap. Its all about your rpm range and matching the parts. The motor is gonna be all out of breath by probably 5000 or 5200 rpm but the power will come in soon and you'll have a good use able rpm range.

I think I'm gonna pick me up a set after the 1st of the year . I've been on a buying binge here lately. I need to be on a installing binge:haha: I've got a crap load of new suspension parts ,tires wheels and various other spare K5 parts .
