Anyone stuffed a Furd D60 under a square? More specifically one of the newer 05+ ones.

The '99-04 axles have 37-1/2" spring pad centers where the square bodies are 32". The diff is offset really far to the driver's side and the perch is machined into the differential casting on that side as well, there really isn't a reasonable way to make those work with leaves.

The '05+ axles are all setup for radius arms/coils, I think you'd find the same problem if you tried to retrofit leaves onto one of those axles as well.
 
That's what I've seen. I've searched this quite a bit and links are actually the easiest to do according to the threads on the interwebs
 
Are the 05+ radius arms a decent design? I wonder if you could just get/make the correct brackets to fit the ford radius arms and burn em on the frame and retain the stock ones that are on the ford axle. Add your coilovers, bumps and limiting straps and be done with it?
 
The arms width is super wide and the arms themselves are over the top large.
Use the ruffstuff swap kit and it makes it much easier than using the enormous OEM radius arm

Do you still use the stock bracketry on the axle with the ruffstuff link/ radius arm kit?

I made mine fit with moving the center pin holes and running your offset Dodge bushings. Really wasn't that hard, and it certainly was reasonable.

Thank you for the info. Older chevy D60's are getting hard to find and pricy. I have been wanting to upgrade but it makes no sense as many moons ago i put a lot of money into my 3/4 ton converted 10 bolt. In fact...that axle has parts from Wally from way back when Wally still looked like a K5. Lol. I do like the ease of brake jobs with the newer axles.
 
A round here the newer stupid duty axles are going for $1000 or so just for the front too. There's a 99 on CL right now that's rusted as h3ll, they want a grand for. It won't be long and they'll be the same price as the Chevy d60 everywhere.

I've seen the set 05+ 60 and the 10.5 sterling for like $600 a few times. Complete axles.

I think it.would be ideal to use a 14 bolt instead of the 10.5 and buy one of those 8 on 6.5 drill jigs for the superduty 60.
 
The huge benefit to the newer Ford 60’s are that they’re still in production so they’re not going to be getting any more rare for the time being. Not like the king pin Dana 60’s that haven’t been under a production truck in 27 years.

My local yard wants $125 for them. If you are willing to pay half of the $1000 prices you're claiming, I can deliver it to your house and still make a profit. Your numbers don't add up. :sign5:

Someone on CL wanting a grand for that axle is kinds like the guys wanting $10,000 for a rusty CUCV.
 
I've been contemplating this swap since mid way through my burnt burb build. I search for the axles every now and then for the heck of it... Usually $600-$1200 just for the front here.

I still really want to do this on my CC at some point. So I may be asking for a set one day Ethan lol
