Anyone swap a 454 into a late model?

I am going to be swapping in a 74-75 454 into my wife's 89 1 ton short box reg cab. I am going to keep all the injection stuff for now but I am still wanting to run it carbed until I find a 454 TBI and computer. Can I just unhook the TBI fuel pump and use a block mounted fuel pump? I am also swapping transmissions, SM465 to TH400.
Any thoughts, suggestions or ideas would be helpful.

Just run a fuel pressure regulator. TBI's only have 14psi or so, so just adjust it down to 6 or 7.
