Talked to the fab shop yesterday and he is going to make me a crossover tube so i can fill from either side, actually its two tubes one for filling and one for vent.
Not sure the cost yet
but if anyone is interested let me know

I want to fill both tanks from one side, sounds like that does that?

I just need a filler in front of the wheel and about 4 feet behind the truck, I can't ever stop the right part of the truck in front of the pump.

This has been discussed quite a bit over the years. IIRC the right way to do it is for a crossover tube connecting each tank somewhere near the bottom of each tank. Otherwise you'll be filling one tank to the top so it over flows into the other.

Another option is to have a valve of some sort so you can direct fuel during the fill up to either tank.

Which begs the question, what happens if both tanks are full and then I get on a side hill? Overflow?
Because the fuel goes in from the side that your filling from it would not transfer. you could still have spillage from the lower tank, just like you would have on a stock setup.
but if you did try and fill both tanks at the same time or had both gas caps off when filling you would make a mess

Huh? You're not making sense. The stock setup isn't directly connected, fuel doesn't flow freely between them.

If both tanks are full when the truck is level, then when the truck is tilted to one side the fuel would transfer to the lower tank causing it to overflow.

yeah i didn't think that would come out right
so on stock setup if you lay the truck on its side you could have spillage from the downhill tank since the filler would be the lowest point on that side, other tank would not spill since the filler is higher than the tank.
now with the crossover the tube actually connects in the filler tube between where you fill it and the tank, so at the extreme of the truck being on its side it would transfer some fuel, but that would have to be an extreme angle with a full tank

That explanation makes more sense to me and now I get what you were saying before.

Also would probably help if I paid up to see the picture...

I tend to not be a paying member at any site either; however, this site is the one that gives me so much information for the low price of $25/yr that I just pay it knowing it is a great investment and access to a great interweb book of knowledge on chebbies
