anyone wheel' a 292 6cyl?

I don't know how much experience any of you have with a 292 but we have 2 work trucks with them and 4 with 350's The 292 will run a lot longer on a tank of fuel than the 350 doing the same job.My 350 get's like 5-8mpg I'm sure a 292 will do better. Maybe I'll just go with a 402BB.I just picked one up :D .

I got an old rebuilt 292 that has been in my garage for oh 8 yrs. If you are needing anything let me know, I shall make a good deal.

You want to trade for a 350 that has about 15k on it? I'm not sure what I will do.Anyone ever run a 292 in mud? I don't do much mud wheelin' but the little that I do will take some power.

Anyone know how to get ahold of Clifford Performance or what a Clifford Kit cost? My Grandpa said he'd sell me his for a couple hundred less than a new one and his is new. :D

82 k10 250 325k on original mill,it has never let me down.i cant race anybody but i can pull like crazy.

i get about 8mpg empty(but look above),i would love to find a 292 or 302 local that hasn't bin pulled out of the lake.a BB will find a temp home in my truck so i can build an i6(its a inline thing!)

   That doesn't provide any info about their parts  . Where can you buy Clifford kit's or are they even avaliable anymore?

Might try calling them and see if they have a list of approved distributors/vendors.
Just a note : Clifford Performance does make some great in-line syuff but make sure the parts you are after are geared towards the power band that you are after . Clifford has some intakes and such that work really well in the upper RPM range and will cause horrible driving conditions at idle and low motor speed.

Like I said I'm getting a kit from my Grandpa. How do I tell what it's for? It's a Clifford 6=8 intake,a Holley 2bbl,and a pair of headers. BTW there's no phone # on the link either.

I understand that you are getting parts from your Grandfather I am just trying to help by informing that not all parts from Clifford are not equal in performance ringe. You indicated that economy was a concern and if your Grandfather was going to build a screaming motor than thise parts might not be the ones you want.
If it is possible to post up detailed pic's of your Grandfathers parts than it might be possible to advise on what is what.
I will try and see if I can find a contact number for Clifford Perf. for you.

Thanks a lot guys. That's what I was looking for.I don't have a camera but I'll try to get one of my buddies to bring one over and get some pic's.BTW they have some very cool stuff!!!!!!! :D:D :D

OK after looking at the site,my Grandpa has the Street Flow intake, the Chevy Truck dual headers, and a 570 {I believe} Holley 2bbl.I'm very inpressed with their stuff but how much will any of it help low end? Thanks a lot for all the info, keep it coming.

Looks like you Grandfather picked parts well !
If you are after max torque at idle than that intake has a little more volume than some other aftermarket ones but it is a FINE intake for street use and mild performance.
The headers look real good too . One thing to consider - If you are using those hedders than they will not allow much heat transfer to the bottom of the intake ( good for full throttle power but not for low speed drivability ) . The fuel mixture tends to puddle up on manifolds for these motors and the heat actually helps on street/trail applications. All is well if you get a water heat exchanger that adapts to the carb base to intake.

I have the water jacketed intake. The main improvement with it is you can bolt on standard 2V or 4V carbs. (Depnding which top plate you get). However, the OE exhaust manifold will not bolt up. Its usually cracked, warped, or burnt through - or will be shortly. Therefore the headers are worthwhile regardless.

So for trail performance {idle up} what setup will work best? I don't want to spend money twice.I've already done that too many times with this trail rig :o . The other question is will a good machine shop know how to build a 6cyl like it needs to be for lots of low end?

Ask the Clifford guys for a tech. recommendation; you needn't let them know of the parts you already have.

what do you mean by referring to having a machine shop build it for low end? are you intending to have the machine shop do the actual build, or just the machine work and you do the build? a machine shop will know what builds low end, but they'll do what you tell them. I'm not sure that machine shops do much which will increase low end, except maybe clearance the block for a stroker kit and perhaps some head work. Low end comes with what you put in it - pistons, cam, crank, etc. (you should inform and/or bring those items to the machine shop so they can build to those parts.) just my .02.
