What kinda of Gas milage are you getting,what gears,and what's your tire size. I am thinking of building one for a daily driver and am wondering what kinda of milage they get.

i built one for my k20 it has 3;73 gears with 35s it gets 9 mpg thats running prem. if you build one keep the compression down
 
WHat compression ratio are you running? (to keep it down?) Just curious.

Will a 383 Have alot more HP and or TQ?
Also I have heard a little about a 400 and a 415 stroker are these any good? Im trying to figure out the best small block
 
What compression are you running... I am going to try to keep it below 10-1 or so....
 
That's the same setup I had in my old 67 GMC pickup. Ran bad on cheap gas with any kind of load, or running the A/C. With premium, it had some kick to it. My mileage was about 10-12mpg with 3.73's and a 700r4, but I had a hard time being last across the light in it. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif I would try to keep the CR to 9:1 if I did it again.
 
about 15 on the highway. I've got 4.56's, 36" swampers and a TH350. I'm running 9.75:1 compression and have to use 93 octane, but it's worth it. Lots of down low torque and the hp is right there when I'm on the highway. I've got 375hp and 450 ft lbs. I don't think I'd ever run a plain jane 350 after owning a 383.
 
383 mostly stock heads, RV (very close to the Edelbrock performer cam, just not as much lift) type cam. Auto tranny... with the Edelbrock carb and Unilite ignition I was getting ~15-16 mpg. With my HEI, and TBI now I am getting ~14 MPG.

35s with 3.73s
I am running ~9.5 :1 compression ratio, and I HAVE to run 91 octane... /forums/images/icons/frown.gif
