are these subs any good?

Howdy guys, Might trade my R/C truck (worth a little more then 200). For 2 rockford fosgate 12's in a box the model is HX2. Nice solid box. Also with a 900 watt fosgate amp...which im not sure the specs on that. The speakers work great and all. Was just curious what they run. Want something equal to what im trading.

I haven't use RF stuff for quite some time, but their stuff is usually pretty good. Do you know if they are the "Power" or "Punch" series? Punch is their entry level stuff and the Power series is a level up. Either way 2 subs and a 900 watt amp for 200 bucks is a good deal if they're in good condition. Some people can really beat on their equipment so make sure to check the rubber surrounds on the sub cones. Look for anywhere they might be cracking or pulling away from the cone or the basket.

they are punch series. Any other buying tips would be awesome btw. This will be my first system.

It's tough without pulling the speakers out of the box to know exactly what's going on, but the surrounds are really the big thing to look for. Aside from that and a really horrible wiring job there isn't a whole lot that will damage the speakers. If the amp has any fans make sure they are running when powered up (it sounds like a dumb thing to look for but i've seen stuff ruined from it being overlooked) and check for any excessive corrosion or rust, basically anything that would imply that the equipment has been exposed to prolonged moisture.

well, the smallest fosgate amp is more than $200 new so...

the hx2's are an old design and have been discontinued for some time now, but new 12's are around 85 bucks each new from best buy.

depending on what model amp it is the amp alone could be worth the trade.
