Bought my 85 k10 blazer for 400 bucks from a buddy. it was a plow truck so rust was an understatement. Frame is solid thanks to previous undercoating but the floors were gone. Then i moved to the tailgate...rust city. From the tailgate to 12 inches in is gone. cut all the rust out but now im without any support back there. i was thinking 1 inch tubing braced from the frame to the bed sides and triangulating it all for more strength. any ideas? i dont want to spend all the money to buy new pan and supports from a catalog and im gonna tear the hell out of it anyway.

Its "CUSTOM PANELING" or Weight savings option code....

RPO 86

The "C10 ECO" option was extemely rare......the emblems are worth thousands by themselves....

You rustbelt guys must have CL ad's that read:

"A/C, CD, AM/FM, Floors..." :haha:

Yup, when you look for old cars/trucks up here, the add usually mentions specifically if the floors, rockers and such are still there.

Back to the question at hand....
If you're just trying to get body panels attached and don't want to spend the money on replacement panels then you have to fab up whatever is going to make it work and still be strong enough to hold up through the abuse you intend to put it through. With that said, I usually have to decide if it's worth my time to make something from scratch or just buy the proper panel.

For some floor fab ideas you should spend some time reading "Ryokens" build thread. He did a completely custom floor and body supports etc, and if you want an example of how to do it right and heavy duty, you won't find a better example.
IIRC the floor work is toward the beginning of his build, if nothing else it may give some great visual ideas of how to repair yours.
