I've been having issues with my blazer if you read posts my by me before but my dash and fuel pump would come on with no key and drain the battery. I just seen today gas coming out of my gas tank on the top by sending unit. Sending unit has acted funny before could there be a short or something going on in gas tank that been this whole problem? I'm no electrical genius but if power is coming on with no key, I would say either a short in the ignition switch or the wiring leading up to it.

By the sending unit? sounds like either the sender or maybe fuel line leaking

Gas coming out by the sending unit could be a couple things that I know of.

1. When you loosen the gas cap is the tank under pressure? If it hisses or tank makes noise your vent line could be blocked and not letting pressure out fot he tank. Common occurrence if it gets plugged or someone uses a non TBI tank on a TBI motor. I had to use some gasket type material to stop mine from leaking and keep the cap vented.

2. Sounds like you have a multiple wiring issues judging from your previous posts. A good manual with wiring schematics is very helpful. Along with a volt meter.

I despise wiring so that is all the info I have for you.

Gas coming out there can`t be good. What kind of shape is tank/sender in. Does it have a rotted out sending unit? Was it running while this was happening, if so I would look for rotted out lines/ sender. I would also suspect a short in the harness possibly. Did you look at the wiring harness to the back of the truck? Are there any bare wires touching brackets or exhaust?

Tank is new sending unit could be the original. Ya idk I'm not good with wiring I don't really see much far as just fuel wiring harness. Nothing there looks bad.
