Auto vs Manual Hubs - Why Swap?

Ok I'm gonna try and peice this together. The hubs are locked in all the time, right? This may throw a wrench in my plan to put the 700R4 and 208 from my 87 in it right? What would the swap involve? I really want to keep the d44 front end but the 203 and th350 have to go. In the tranny or transfer, something is terribly loose. Plus I had a lot of stuff put in the 700R4 to make it beefy enough to handle the abuse I AM going to put it through. I can have the th350 and 203 rebuilt later but for now I really need the other setup (MONEY). I have a feeling this aint gonna be as simple as I originally thought

It won't make a difference with your tranny and T-case. Those solid silver things are just caps. Inside it is a solid slug. Splined on the inside for the shaft and splined on the outside for the bearing hub. It will just be like running with manual hubs locked all the time, but it shouldn't throw a wrench in your plans. Just run them till you can afford manuals, or just keep them if you don't mind the extra wear and tear with everything turning all the time. If you swap to manuals keep those slugs in your parts box. They make good trail spare if you ever break a hub, and they are free:D

Great

That takes a load off my mind. I have a lot these days with the engine and all. I bought the truck from an individual and he can't remember what kind of cam he put in it. He only knows it was a Comp Cams 280. Well there are about 8 cams with that in the grind #. Not really helping on what I need for the rest of the motor. HAHA Trial and error in this area might get expensive. I might just buy another cam so I know exactly what I have.
Thanx for the info on the hubs. I fully plan to get the manuals most likely in the next couple months befor summer fully sets in. They aint really that expensive considering the peice of mind you get from them.
