Autometer gauge install

One is a signal terminal and the other is an OUTPUT terminal. I'm guessing the OUTPUT would be used in the event I was not using a DRAC which already has a wire going back to the ECM and to the cruise control to make both of them happy.

You are right Scott, I only used the signal terminall on the speedo. The output is not used unless there is an external data logger or you need to have a seperate cruise output.

By the way I want to see what the final product looks like. Does your "good" bezel have the silver inlay over the top of the front face? If so that's awesome, I almost went that route, even had an NOS silver GM bezel to do it to, but someone offered me more money (and it was a shame to cutup a brand new bezel) so I sold the NOS bezel and went with a good condition free black one, and switched the silver faced gauges. I really like the black on silver, or silver on black, either way.

Yours should look real nice.

update?
do I smell an update?

Soon, I haven't had much time lately to be outside messing with it. Basically at this point I have to install the sending units for the water temp and oil pressure gauges and finish up a couple wires then I can put the dash pad and gauge cluster back in then I have to move to the t-case and replace the mechanical speedo housing for the VSS housing then i'm done. I'll update when I have further progress though. Not sure when that will happen since it's supposed to rain all week long and I have a simple surgery on friday and then this coming weekend is already spoken for with other "things" to do.

could I get the mechanical stuff from you? :)
PM if you have a price
and yes, the rain brings the suck with projects needing finishing

I'm going to be keeping all of the mechanical stuff from the t-case if that's what you're refering to. I do have a spare speedo and optic eye box though that i'd be willing to part with.

Ok, thought I better bring this back to the top since i'm about 99% done with this project now. I just need to cut up the bezel i'm going to use and swap the gauges over and i'm done. I calibrated the speedo tonight after I buttoned up the rest of the wiring and got the t-case back together after swapping over to the 40 tooth tone ring and VSS.

I'll get some finished pics up in a few days once I get the "good" bezel cut and gauges swapped.

Ok, this project is now finished (except for a small problem to deal with that i'm about to make a post about). Anyways, before anyone says anything here are the finished pics.

came out nice Scott... it's soooo much more enjoyable driving a vehicle with all that rock solid info... piece of mind and all that...

Thanks. Now to figure out why I tripped the SES light tonight while I was out "goofing around". I pulled the codes and have a 32 (EGR) and a 51 (MEM CAL). :doah:

Looks good, on the to do list for my sub.

What part of Fremont are you from? I grew up there, 25 years, left in '94

When I was a kid (2-9) I lived in the Centerville District, now I live in the Irvington district near Irvington High School.

What's your name and where did you live? There's a chance I might know you if you were into cars when you were living here. I know just about everyone in town who owns a hotrod or works in the Automotive field.

Greg Lewis. Had a little yellow and white 55 Chevy, LIDEMUP, you may have seen around in the late 80's and early 90's.

I don't recall knowing you but I do remember seeing that 55 around town. Very clean car. You probably know my buddy Stan Blanca then who also had a red 55 chevy with a Crower injected BBC and was tubbed?

I knew who Stan was, bas ass car, the Crowers made it stand out!

I like it, but after seeing how bright those LED's are I think I might find a way to shade them a bit. Might be a little distracting, but I could be wrong.

Actually, they are bright but because none of them will be on for any length of time it's fine. Also since the dash bezel tilts downwards of vertical it isn't bad since you're not staring directly into the LED's.
