If I put in a 14 bolt, will i have to put in new front axel or just regear. My friend said i need a new front axel.

no you can change your current front axle to 8 lugs via the conversion featured on the home page of this site.
or if you already have 8 lugs like the 14 bolt you may need to regear to match them.

1/2 ton status
technically all u have to do it re-gear the front axle, but being a 1/2 ton(6lug) im guessing it is...its not really worth it, plus people might look at u funny with 8 big lugs in the rear and 6 small ones in the front, i would find an 8 lug axle for the front and use that, re-gear it if u have to....or do what i did...i put in my 14bolt and didnt have 4 wheel drive for a while, until i found a good 8 lug front axle and put it in.....OR.....find a complete truck that someone has if it has a 14 bolt, use both axles out of that, u can find a beat up k20 pretty cheap....good luck!
