Axle locker spline count questions *DELETED*

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

1989 to 1991 front and rear 10 bolts were 30 spline. Although some carryover would of occured early on the assembly line until all the 28 spline stuff was gone. If it is in fact a 10 bolt, he sold you a later model rear Gov Loc made by Eaton. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

I think it was 89-91Blazers that had 30 spline 10 bolts. I know my 90 Blazer had 30 spline axle shafts. My 88 burb has 28 spline.

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

gm started using 30 sline axles in 89. the previous ones had 28 slpine, you could buy some 30 spline axles and throw them in. there was someone selling some cheap in the forsale forum.

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

Yep I got a set in the F/S forum don't even remember the price like $35 or something let me know if ya want them.

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

Are the locking hubs the same for both 28 30spline? I've got a new pair of premium warns.

The outer axle was the same. Verified myself recently. My friend replaced his 3.42 30 spline front with a 4.10 28 spline front, and reused his original locking hubs. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

Now that I think about it the hub is what decides the lock out spline count. I think.

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

my warn premiums worked on both the 28 and 30 spline sets. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

Yep, the Eaton was out of a 30-spline 10-bolt. Here is a cut and paste from the original post on the for sale board:

*************************************************************************
Parting out my old front 30-spline 10-bolt. Nothing wrong with any of the parts that I am aware of....swapped in a Dana 60 last year and just don't need this stuff. All prices are OBO!!

- Eaton Posi unit - 30-spline, carbon fiber clutches, can be rebuilt with different preload springs for more or less slip, low actual miles since it was in a front diff - $100 + ride

**************************************************************************

Not sure exactly what you were expecting, but the part was accurately described. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

As mentioned, the '89-'91 Blazers and Suburbans had a 30-spline front 10-bolt axle. The differences include the carrier (differential) and the inner axle shafts. The outer stub axles, u-joints, knuckles, locking hubs etc... are all the same as the 28-spline version.

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

Hey man there's no problem I was just missing the whole 30 spline deal. Maybe I was assumed that I had 30 spline in my 3/4ton. I'm alittle slow some times. Thanks for the quote and all is good. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I'm working on some axle shafts right now.

Re: Axle locker spline count questions

Hey thas sounds like a "Real" Eaton posi, thank goodness its not a Gov Loc /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
