So going on round 2 of this new oil seal that I was recommend to use on my 14 bolt full float.

Part # I am using is seal 4.jpg
So I popped it my correctly thinking nothing about the spindle itself since I was recommend this seal for leaking problem on a speedi-sleeve. So all seemed to go well I thought till after 15 mins of driving to work and then seeing gear oil run out of the drum.

Here are a few pictures of the seal where it came apart in 2 pieces. Then I will move on to my Technical question.

So now I see the seal did not fit spindle correctly and the was a groove from the old seal that was raised.

So how should the new seal fit? Should it slide on spindle fairly easy?
My buddy at work was saying you emery cloth and smooth it out and keep checking as I work it to see how seal fit's and it should go on fairly easily, not forcefully.

Any tips? Truck is torn apart at work so can check and reply while at work tomorrow. Hoping Brotherhood will help me out here.

By the way luckily by buddy works at a parts store and is warranting the seal and my fairly new wheel bearings/races.

Glad I got a friend looking out for me.

I was able to start the seal by hand (with the hub and brake disk) but was only able to fully seat the seal by driving the whole assembly in with the wheel bearing adjuster nuts. Probably had to move it in 1/4 to 3/8" with the nut. It never bound up on me, but you could feel it pressing onto the seal surface.
Kinda looks like you never got it fully seated, which means your bearings were never tightened up properly. Which could explain why the seal is now in two pieces. The hub would have been allowed to move in and out on the spindle.

If you had a speedisleeve on there before, you have to remove it first. The new seal will not properly seat with it there. (I proved that, ruined a seal)

Your correct never seated correctly. So this morning spent some time cleaning spindle up, I have it now that you can lube inner seal with some grease and install seal. Once seal is installed you can spin out side with inner staying stationary since this is a 2 piece design that is meant for inner to stay put while outer turns with drum.

Got new wheel bearing races installed and wheel bearings. Just hoping someone else will post up before I leave work so I can feel way more confident on this seal install.

All I need to do is install seal in hub and reinstall heavy ass drum and set preload for update single axle nut. See my post on single axle nut/new parts.

Thanks for advice so far.
