Axle strength question

Front axle will likely be either open or limited slip and maximum tire would be 36 probably, if super swamper made a cheap 35/12.50 that would be the ideal but it's either a 33/12.50 ,36/12.50, or 35/15.50. I like the 15.50 SX but think it wouldn't be road/highway friendly. Not that any bias swamper would though.

Everything breaks, but many people have d60s that survive just fine with 44's bolted to them...

Hell, theres been rockwells busted with 39.5"s .

Everything has the potential to break, period. But thats not to say you need a rockwell to run 44"s.

Stock D60's still use 30 spline outers and their respective lockouts are usually weak too. I broke both under my 4K buggy with little effort on 37's. I've since been running 42's with 35 spline outers with not issues, but that's not a stock D60 :deal:

This ^ period.

Yes, driving easy saves parts. Quite simply, having to be easy on your parts makes the rig less capable. Many here have wheeled with me; I'm not a throttle down, close your eyes and hope kind of driver. There are times your tire will get a little bound up and you have to drive through it, there are times you have to throttle up an obstacle.

Any time you have to decline to do that to save your axles you'll realize the vehicle is less capable.

I think Interco is now offering its Swamper LTB in 35x12.50 for just under $200 per tire. You may want to look into that. I wouldn't mind having a set of those myself.

I have to agree with everything mentioned above. Broke two stock 30-spline stubs and found a 3rd twisted when swapping them out for the 35-spline stuff. This was with 13/38 TSL's which are skinny are more in the 37" range, stock 6.2L engine, auto trans, and not bashing it on the trails. Since the 35-spline stubs and non-necked down inners I haven't broken anything with 39.5x15.5 TSL's and harder use on the trail.
