I swear this won't take as long as the axle build.:doah::D

Just got a little done tonight, got everything unbolted from the rear 10 bolt except the leaf springs. 6:15am comes early.

I'll get atleast the rear done this weekend.:wink1:

Well it has to be drivable by Wednesday of next week, because my DD is being commandeered by my brother and his family. So maybe just the rear this weekend and the front after they fly out.:wink1:

Yeah, two tone blue brings da pimp.:pimp::D

Only real blemish on it is that damn spot below the driver's side tail light, can't remember exactly how I did it, I think the stock bumper rubbed it some how.

Your truck is imaculate compared to mine. I was planning on waxing it, and getting it all shiny, but i went 4 wheelin.

you are working inside and its gonna take a weekend to swap a rear axle. :eek1: no rain to deal with. the ground looks smooth and hard. whats gonna take so long, posting in the lounge?

4 U-bolts, 4 shock mount bolts, 1 brakeline, 4 small nuts on the yoke, 2 bleeders, and two parking brake cables. I'm confused, what part take so long to hook up? :dunno::rolleyes:

The fact that I'm 8 deep into a 24 pack right now. :haha: Gonna drink lots of water before going to bed though, so the hangover won't interfere with truck work tomorrow. DON'T JUDGE ME!:D

Once you start, it will go quick. Your lucky to have a dry place to work on your truck. I swaped my axles last febuary, and it was cold.

Got the 14 bolt bolted in, pulled the transfer case, replaced the input seal, tailshaft housing, and put it back in. I'll get the rear buttoned up tomorrow after mother day business hopefully.:D On to some pics.

Sucked lifting the damn case by myself but at least it's not an iron one.

the disc brake brackets are supposed to be on the back of the axle. did you mount yours different for a particular reason.

Not really... I think I recall people saying it doesn't really matter... I just wanted the bleeder screws sticking up.

Yeah Matt, but have you taken it out and put it back in solo style?:D

I've always interpreted "up" to mean the caliper is more vertical and the bleeder is point like STRAIGHT up:

That's on my dually, but ignore the rotors and it's the same as yours.

Very noob question but could you put the diy bracket to the back and swap the calipers to the other side??? then the bleeder would still be pointing up and the caliper to the rear.

OOOOOOOOOOOppppssss. I set mine up the same way. but because one of my trucks with rear discs had the caliper more on the front side stock. Don't remember what truck it was now. That and it seemed like they were more protected. Oh well they can always be moved if I don't like them.

If you don't have a parking brake setup -- i.e you're not using Caddy calipers -- you can put them on either end.

As mine are the Caddies, I had to put them on the back of the axle so that the parking brake cable would pull.
