Axle Width

88' GMC Jimmy

my rear axle seems to be a few inches narrower than my front axle, is this normal from the factory or has it been swapped?

rear axle - outside of tire - out ide of tire 75"

Front axle - outside of tire - outside of tire 80"

Its normal, helps with turning radius and a couple other things, if you want the same width, use spacers swap in a van axle or a newer axle from an IFS Chevy they are pretty close to the same width

Im all stock right now. just wondering how guys with lifts, tire/rims get that look.

Its all in the wheels, 4.5 backspacing up front and 2.5 backspacing in the rear.

Or swap in a 1 ton axle.

How wide is the factory k5 rear? How much wider is the van or IFS rear?
