http://www.coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=193774 ;) probably won't go quite so high, b/c i'm cutting out rust on the doors and the door sill... but... :) i'm going as high as shawn did on his cut. maybe it will give you some ideas - but probably not b/c your rig is so much prettier than mine. :haha:

Are you using 2x6 tubing? Yeah, I'm not going to cut my rockers away, but they will tuck right up next to the seam and stick out just a bit. I'm going to make wrap-around bumpers, and the doors and adjacent areas on the fenders and quarters will get contoured 3/16" aluminum diamondplate panels fitted to them from the black trim piece on down. That should keep the rocks at bay ;) Then I need to clean up the springs I have and install the lift.

BTW, was that Dustin who had a set of Rancho shocks for a 4" lift he was willing to sell me?

dustin - i dig your pics. i'm going to have to snag a few of those. :D the pics of allan going down the luge are good for perspective on the tight fit and high walls.

greg - it's 2x6. any wider would have required more cutting, or more than i want to stick out would stick out. i could go for one more inch sticking out and having it taper near the wheel wells so that there's no edges to catch on stuff.

That's what I plan on using. I am going to taper it like you mentioned. That should keep the rocks at bay, and act as a step for climbing intothe truck once it's lifted :D

my step is now 3.5 inches higher - the wifey is demanding a stirrup to help get in. :)

That's what she has you for - a gentleman helps his lady into the vehicle :wink1:

Seriously, maybe a detatchable step or chain stirrup is what is needed...?

Awesome pics/story! :thumb:

I love trails that have a destination like that mill.

Nice write-up! I was just there the week before, only I went in through Box Canyon and back out Cottonwood. It is a very beautiful area.
