B&M 700R4 deep trans pan question.

Anyone installed one of these? Does it improve overall cooling? Anything else you can add is appreciated. My '88 Jimmy is getting due for a trans filter/fluid change and I was thinking about adding one of these.

id get the filter extention that goes with that (70288), and it should be fine. Get the cast aluminum if you can. Chrome sucks

What's the problem with chrome? Aluminum is 3 1/2 times the cost of chrome ($175. VS. $50.)

In my experience, chrome covers -- tranny pans, valve covers, diff covers, etc -- don't fit. Either the chrome-plating process warps them or they're just poorly made ... but I won't use 'em. Gimme normal steel, aluminum, anything else.

Exactly. Chrome doesnt dissipate heat. I picked up a deep aluminum pan on ebay for $50 or 60. It fit fine, had to drop the driveshaft though to get it in. It was polished, but a trip through the mudhole and it looks better.

depends on the pan and how your exhaust is run...
