so about 3 months ago my friend Aiden (I am writing his build thread for him because he isn't forum savvy) ran his 87 suburban into a pole totaling it. Since then we have parted it out and today we picked up this one. 454 big block with an edelbrock carb. Bought by a plow company as a backup so it has spent it's 65,xxx miles either sitting or plowing. A couple problems with it, the rear glass doesnt roll down either seized window, bad motor, or no power. And the front leafs are bent the wrong way. has a 12 bolt rear but we might swap those because of how rusted the studes are we will see. Plan is, swap the front leafs, then carb rebuild, then hopefully maybe axel swap. yesterday got it mostly vacuumed out and wiped down. Then put some stuff on the dash and door cards looking way better now. The interior is basically perfect except for the headliner. And we put it next to the jeep and holy smokes comanches are tiny. Got the back of the seats wire brushed so rust isnt actively falling off. Got the rear glass mechanism out and un siezed so the tailgate drops now. doesnt go all the way down due the the crushed rear bumper but we might put the bumper of his old truck on it, provided we can get the bolts off. Also replaced the fuel filter and tuned the carb a little and it's running way nicer now. Cant figure out how to post pictures sorry I am usually on the comancheclub

Cool man, I think you have to have 10 posts or something to be able to post pics.

welcome aboard!
Factory front leaves are level or slightly convex.
Assuming its a 4wd, someone must have put the 454 in it, as BBC’S were’nt available in K series until 81, and then it was K30.
Rust sucks!

Yeah the dude bought it with a 350 and towed his winnebego up a canyon hated how it towed took it back to the plant and they put a 454 in it. Im suprised those leaves aren't sagged huh weird.

Other question this isn't stock ride height right?

Factory was SOA.
most lifts 4” or more would have an arched spring up front.
the factory springs are pretty flat by design.

This is the place for that!
a few more posts and you can throw up some pics....we love pics!

Well Last night got the rear window more fixed and we decided to cut the torsion bar out because we have to stand on the back of the tailgate to get it to go down it's so stuck. But in angle grinding when I got all the way through it snapped and I jumped back and pulled my back in the worst way ever. I am basically paralyzed it hurts.

Im at 10 posts how can I add pictures. Do I need to be a paying member to add to the gallery?

The stock front springs are negatively arched. That is not a big deal. Does it have two or three front springs?

As for the axle, no point in swapping an axle over wheel studs. I assume you mean the lug studs?
