Back From BB04

[ QUOTE ]
Looks good, which truck is that, an early incarnation of the StormTrooper?

[/ QUOTE ]
Bingo, it's one out of Storm Trooper's album.

[ QUOTE ]
We ought to pick a truck from BB'04, though.

[/ QUOTE ]
I was thinking the same thing. I just wanted to throw something together quick, so I figured Dave would have some good pics.

I will look through all the Sheetmetal Gang's pictures and look for something similar. I just wanted a flexed out action pic like that.

I was thinking I could do a different one each year. Same general layout just with a picture from that year, and obviously the appropriate year Blazer Bash number at the bottom.

If you guys are seriously interested I will sent a message to Steve and find out how to proceed. I don't want to step on any toes.

Here's two updated versions.

Let me know if you all want me to talk to Steve about doing these.

I'll send a pm to Steve and get his blessing if you will.

I didn't know which truck is which. I was just looking for one that I thought represented the Sheetmetal Gang.

I'll look through Trooper's pics and see if there's a good one from BB04.

But do you have fenders and a roof?

[/ QUOTE ]

I do have a roof, but the whole fender thing puts me out I think. I could be the Token buggy though.

By the way all of the hardcore guys have sheetmetal they just don't care about it anymore.

I think that it's kind of neat though that on friday we were a very mixed group of full body rigs and buggy/truggy rigs. Then everybody got to run trails that they wanted and all had fun doing them.

Driving a buggy it gets real easy to forget how hard some of the obstacles, that we just drive over, are for rigs with full bodies and smaller parts. I have to do things like drive the waterfall on upper helldorado to get the same rush you guys do from driving things like white knuckle hill. Sometimes I envy you for that.

Hey I may have cut my bed off by I think I still have more sheetmetal than a fullbodied k5 /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hey Brandon, which way are my tires pointed? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Actually, Claudia said the same thing. I think this would be a recipe to keep for the next Blazer Bash, starting with a mixed group, and then splitting up the next two days. I also enjoyed it that a lot of people got together after the run on Saturday night, not just on Friday for the BBQ. Much better hearing the stories firsthand instead of a week later on the web. Difficult to organize, though, with respect to timing due to various repair activities...

I don't want to create a division at Blazer Bash with this sheetmetal thing, and I actually enjoy watching your machine or Wally just walk up/over/down everything. It's just that we had a cool group to run trails, and to spread the word that we had a ton of fun on the trails with vehicles that are still quite streetable (in the legal sense, not performance-wise /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif). It is also a little about prodding the CK5 boss towards having a bit more plans for us not-so-hardcore guys at the next 'Bash (this year it was 'Pritchett on Saturday', and that was it... /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif). Having a 'Sheetmetal Gang Run' next to the hardcore stuff may attract some more people to come out next time. I personally am addicted to this anyway, I'll try and be there at Easter....

What you're saying is so true. When I first started coming here I was checking out the Blazer Bash stuff and I thought it was all truggies and hardcore rigs going. But after seeing all your pics, I'm excited about next year. I know there are other people that think the same way I did.

Man, were the hell have I been? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I guess working too much. I kept watching this forum and saw no new posts then.......all of this!!!!
I'm glad JMS & you guys have been pushing this. I'm defenitly in on this. SHEETMETAL ALL THE WAY! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.
The funnest part was when I saw this:

I didn't even notice that it was MY TRUCK!! /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
Thanks Scott for the pictures. Nice job and your hired!
I don't want to give the truggies a hard time but tubes don't shine up like good old CHEVY sheetmetal.
I hope this does atract other guys to the Blazer Bash.
I find it a great accomplishment to get through a event as intense as BB without any damage.
Thanks for the HOSS vote Dirk. I think you can out-drive me but I'll take the compliment /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
The good part about the SHEETMETAL GANG is that anyone can run with us as long as they have a couple pieces of sheetmetal /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'll be back to post when I can but the work hours have been really long and are only getting worst.
Keep up the good work. Com'on Steve, what do you think? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

HANG'IN WITH THE CK5 SHEETMETAL GANG! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

I've got part of a hood skin, and some pieces of the bed floor, and a windshield frame that's still mostly there... so can I play too? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Hey, I need a sticker, I have lots of sheet metal. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Now is this sheet metal thing just the sheet metal (cause I am still 100% full body)? or does there have to be some sense anti-thrash (cause I also have the "sheetmetal doesn't matter" attitude)?

Yeah, but it has to be part of the vehicle and not laying by the side of the garage, and no, the Burb and the 4Runner don't count... /forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Steve, I would suggest to have 'Sheetmetal Gang' runs and a 'Hardcore' runs (we need a catchy name, though) at the next Blazer Bash (instead of the difficult/moderate/easy classification), and categorize both with a tech description how a vehicle should be equipped for each. Doesn't mean that anybody can't drive whatever trails they like, just what some of us are planning to do.

Matt, at this time, the Sheetmetal Gang thing does indeed imply a certain care for said sheetmetal. We all know body damage can happen accidentally, and that usually doesn't break anybody's heart, since it's part of the game. But some of us won't take their truck into trails or obstacles where body damage to a fullsize is guaranteed. I know Dave likes his truck the way it is, and I like my doors to close snugly 'cause at the end of the day, I have to drive it 1000 miles in a part of the country where inclement weather is quite frequent. My truck may turn into some thing more radical in the future, but I hope that is several years away /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif; in the meantime, I'm enjoying the fact that I can use my truck both on 4-rated trails and on the highway for comfortable and reliable transportation. In fact, I hope to do some more of that this winter in AZ when I get back to my old Desertrider thing....

Matt, your disqualified. You try and hit the sheetmetal on rocks on purpose. I know you drive it daily and the doors still work fine but you don't fit in the Sheetmetal gang area. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

The one year i don't bring my sheetmetal 79 and run with dave and michael....you guys come up with a cool catchy name for us...well....at least i made EJS....
