Back In the Saddle Again

I moved to the Idaho Falls area on Thanksgiving of 2016 and it was like 50s then shortly after it was -20 and they had one of those 20 yr winters with feet of snow. Then we moved back to Utah in Oct '17. I always wanted to get up to the more northern parts of Idaho.

yeah looks like its going to be around 20° this next week or so.

Should be snowing starting tonight. We literally made it just in time and missed all the inclement weather. I take it as a sign from god that he blessed our journey here and fulfilled my every prayer to him for my family's safety during this long trek. My son has never been in the snow so i am very excited to see the look on his face when i smash him with a hail of snowballs.

There was only 1-negatives of the trip. Somehow I got severely sick. And i have not been able to find work yet because I am so sick. In the passes of utah I was physically unprepared for how cold it was going to be at night and I believe I drove myself ragged. This is the worst sore throat I have ever had in my life. With no heater in the truck I was woefully ill prepared for how cold it would be at night. I did install the new thermostat today and it did help however its still not super hot coming out the dash. And I need to fogure out how to set things correctly under the glove box as I cant adjust for defrost.

My kids had a fever and sore throat pretty bad the last two weeks. Its that time of year:(

New area new germs, plus the weather change. Sucks ass! I drove a square K10 in high school in WI that barely had enough heat to see out the windshield. Had to wear gloves and a beanie while driving. It was an ac style heater box and all the vacuum stuff was messed up and I didn't know anything about it being a high school kid.

Im wondering if thats the issue with mine if some of the vacumm stuff is missing, it wont get hot and wont open the vent door for the defrost.

I believe the hot/cold is still a cable if I recall correctly, but changing the outlet location is vacuum related, and requires a vacuum hose from the engine.

If the heater core is plugged it won't get hot anywhere, or if the blower motor quits.

It blew nice and hot prior to the LS swap. Ill try to find an diagram of the vaccum like locations see if I cant rig something together.

There is only one hose that connects to the engine under the hood I believe, then it splits all over at the controller under the dash.

Check your heater hoses like @Truckman4life said. And sometimes the blower motor can stick if it sits a while.

Section 1B for an air conditioned setup in the "Service Manuals". I looked in the 1986 one. Not sure why they skip 1985. Temp is cable. They show all the testing and routing for the vacuum stuff in there too.

All my manuals are currently locked up in a storage unit. If you could post up a photo,

Online here.

If the vacuum to hvac is open the doors are supposed to defualt to defrost.
Not getting hot is a different issuse.

Seeing the rest of capt pirate booty patrol PO maintenance it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the heater core were full of mud.

Forgetting electric or mechanical fan?

Mechanical Fan. Guess I should change everything out. Heater worked fine before the LS swap so I didn't imagine it change so much.
