Back In the Saddle Again

I also just want to get it in primer already so I can have my shop back without the truck parked in it haha

Which pitman arm do I need. There is a 3.5” and a 1.5”. There isn’t a good explanation on ORD of what the differences are and for.

Tried Calling ORD and nobody picked up. I need the pitman arm in order to measure for my drag link. I am thinking since I have 4" lift I need the 3.5" drop arm?

It depends somewhat on your actual truck measurements. I have a 3.5 on my '70 and the drag link rubs the top of my ORD spring on hard left turns. ( on my list to fix) it has an S bend in the drag link, D44 axle.
My '90 has the 1.5 pitman arm and I had to grind the top of the stud off to clear thr bottom flange of the frame. Minimum S bend, D60. It works well, but does rub the bottom of the frame rail at full stuff.

Is your front axle 1” forward on your 70’ ?

Ok,

I am going back and forth on color and type of paint like a psycho. I can't make up my mind.

Its either going to be flat gray, silver/gunmetal, or light blue. I think all these colors look amazing and can't decide. Its a huge commitment because once its done its done.

If I want to do stripes or two tone it will need to be a base clear application. If I do a solid color, it will be a single stage application.

I keep going back to those retro stripes and loving the way they look. They have to be painted out here though. Can't do the decal/vinyl with this sun. Also cant apply the vinyl to a single stage application anyways.

Id like to do a custom lightning bolt design on the bedsides that turns into the retro stripes that goes down the body line and up on to the hood.

Idk im just day dreaming. I should have the truck all in prime this next week.

I am fortunate enough to have a painter who has been featured in Hot Rod magazine more than once for his killer work.

Only input I have from listening to you talk about it is don’t do the flat paint. My truck is flat and it’s great for a desert bomber that you never wash and touch up with spray paint. It holds dirt and doesn’t ‘wash’ well. If you have access to a good painter, use their talent on a nice gloss!

When I say flat i mean non-metallic still high gloss.

Gunmetal gets my vote. Chrome or black accents play off that nicely. Can’t really go wrong.

Whater the brush stripes can buff out the easiest
The non metallic light blue or non metallic gray will be easier for getting rid of trail rash. But, silver/gunmetal metallic makes the body work way easier because it hides everything. So you see the conundrum!
