Back In the Saddle Again

Got an oil leak coming from a valve cover so working on getting that taken care of. Bought a fitting to run my mechanical temp guage but it isn’t the correct size. Damn near ready to just drop the dough on a USA vintage guage set or the Dakota digital.

1st gear is pretty useless for me with the 8.1 on the street with 4.10’s and 35’s. Though I’ve been known to stuff it in first coming to a stop out of habit driving my 5-speed s10. You realize it’s for the deep first gear when it’s revving like mad halfway through an intersection.

Second gear is butter smooth though. I will admit for some odd reason the hydro clutch in the Blazer has less feel than the hydro setup in my s10 despite being a very similar integrated slave /release bearing. Not sure the why.

It's usually the clutch springs that make the difference.
Some aftermarket clutches have different feel

My distributor starting stocking Dakota digital now, I could check on prices for you if you know what style you want.

I put a LuK clutch and flywheel on this. I’m pretty sure I used a LUK kit in my last 84 and I loved how it felt but that was also a mechanical set up. This is my first vehicle with a hydro clutch besides my 73 nova I built in high school but I don’t remember or think I paid much attention to the feel back then :D

This precision pump I’m using isn’t giving me the pressure I need. Only reading 2-3 psi on the guage so picked up a Holley 12-801-1 pump. Should put me right where it needs to be.

So being in the auto industry I have had the chance to hear some bitching rides. One that always stood out to me is the 2024+ Escalade V with the Corsa exhaust. That’s the sound I want. Getting the tubes won’t be a big deal but man those corsa mufflers are spendy. But I gotta have that sound.

You might also need to add a supercharger. :D

Went a different route for now.
All 3” stainless exhaust tubing.
Going to Y pipe under the bell housing.
Straight back dump driver side rear quarter behind tire slightly angled down.
V-band clamps so the Y section is removable.
Into a vibrant ultra quiet resonator and a rolled 5” tip.
