Squarebody CHOP Shop

If either one of these have the crossmembers with the riser brackets please put me in line if they aren’t spoken for ?

Thanks, Tom

The white blazer is a 73 and a good base for a wheeler. The K20 is a 79 GMC. The one I didn't get pics of is a 79 K5 Blazer with terminal cancer.

Cool.

If I ever manage a K5 and you run across any of the dealer roll bars keep me in mind.

Riser brackets?

Are you talking about the ones for the secondary crossmember that was used with the skid plate?
Nope - not those small 90* “L” brackets that position the secondary crossmember on the ‘73~’79’s after the frame upward bend on the K-10 & K-20 skid-plate option ( from what I can tell the narrower ‘77 and earlier K-5’s and all Burbn’s straighter lower-longer frame rails don’t require these ).

The ones I’ve been talk’n with KENNYW about are the older style setup from the ‘67~’75-ish brackets ( see pics ) that tie in the upper frame rails to the lower mounted crossmember - also, the mid-seventies version that wraps around the frame rail on the driver side but still uses the riser brackets on the passenger side ( added a pic of that one too ).

NOTE: pics are having trouble loading - I’ll try again in a little while. It’s fixed now.

Oh, I believe I have a crossmember and the pair of riser brackets. Where, I don't know. I'll look though.

Well that was way easier than I thought... unlike normal, something was right where I thought it was, lol.

There's a good chance I'll wind up using the crossmember, but doubt I'd ever use those brackets.
Sounds good !
If ya’ decide you won’t use/need the brackets just let me know and I’ll fire up the ole Pay Pal machine.

I’m with ya’ on things not usually being where you thought they were…

Just PM me your address and I'll figure out how much it will be to ship those brackets.

And for info's sake, I'm nearly positive that crossmember and brackets came from a '78 K20. The crazy SOB was converting the truck to a 2wd, after stripping and painting the rolling K20 chassis.

Will do !

Here’s my theory on the difference in brackets and other parts over the years.
Most of us that have been involved over many moons and have geeked out on this type trivia can narrow things down to an era of year spans for certain type of parts and when or on what they were offered on.

But, as years go by and parts are replaced it gets a little harder and ( and this is a big “AND” ) the fact that not every GM plant used the same components for the same time duration - add to that mid-year parts introductions or eliminations, discontinuations and such.
And finally sometimes lesser significant parts were used up to eliminate inventory in certain plants while others got the replacement components.

I’ve found adding “-ish” to the year spans helps sometimes but strive to narrow it all down as much as possible.

Sending ya’ a PM directly!

I forgot to add “duly-noted” on your ‘78 coming with the riser brackets.

And good job on rescuing that truck before the PO converted it to a 2WD !

Back in ‘94 when I bought my ‘83 crew cab dually from a shop that built drag car chassis’ they were going to convert it ( it was their shop truck at the time ) into a 2WD because they saw absolutely no need for a pull truck with 4WD.

When I asked about it, because a buddy of mine told me it was there and what they were planning on doing with it, they could not believe that anyone would want a truck built like that with 4WD.

The owner of the shop told me $6,500 just to see if I was serious and all I could utter was “SOLD” !
The K-30-ism affect took over my purchasing prowess and I left all my negotiating skills behind me…but I left there with a bone stock virgin DRW K-3500 GMC HIGH SIERRA with four doors a 454, 465/205, D60/70 HD w/ 4.56’s - knowing I saved it from gett’n neutered by a group of chassis builders that didn’t realize it’s worth !

Unfortunately I wasn't able to rescue the truck. I just took all the leftovers off the guy's hands. It had been his dads truck and had sentimental value... but he wanted 2wd instead.
