Back In the Saddle Again

It’s crazy over here with the used market.

If you own it—it ain’t worth nothing. If someone else owns it it’s worth a million dollars. The used market here is something else. I have had no luck selling much of anything as well. Back home I’d list parts and they would sell same day or close to it.

Working on finishing this up. I’m so torn on what to do as far as triangulation. My worry is doing a cross bar in the center my passengers will bash their head on it all the time. Considering just doing 4 corner gussets instead of a singular or X bar thoughts?

Im thinking I will do cross bars from the front b pillar intersections that will terminate in the center of the rear halo. I think that’s the best of both worlds for space a saftey. Basically “V” Like that.

Watch your headroom, I had my 5’6” ish daughters sit in the back and the V would still be within 4”~5” of their heads so I decided against that. I’ll eventually add a straight front to back bar in the center, better than nothing.

I have considered a U on the rear crossbar and then the V, using the U to push the landing point of the V forward a bit but I’m not sure a U can be made tight enough to clear the headroom.

Do you think just corner saddle gussets would be strong enough if there was a roll over?

Clearance for the exhaust actually wasn’t that bad. Just had to round that corner to a real wide radius. I’m leaving the welds exposed everywhere else. Primer and paint the inside and primer and bedliner the outside. Using the spray bed liner from the can so it can be touched up if need be.

Alright. Got the final parts ordered from ORD for the cross over steering axle. Pitman arm and drag link on the way. Next couple weeks I will get that axle swapped in with the new steering box and reinforcement plates on the frame. Let’s go!
