Back in the seat of a K5!!!!!

I wonder whats up with the WA plates?

The current owner purchased it from the original owner out of Spokane, WA.

We're leaving for a final inspection and test drive in about 30 minutes. If all goes well, we will be coming home with this beauty!!!! :woot:

Hey you need one that is already dented so you don't have to worry. Send me the info and I will get a bank loan to take it off the guys hands! :woot:

You better call me tonight!!! Focker!! :D

Good luck Paul!!

My 81 Jimmy was an odd special order too. Full load with the 4 speed manual tranny. :dunno:

Fock, fock, fock, fock, fock...........

Just got back from our test drive. Had an opportunity to take a closer look at the truck in better light, which revealed a leaking rad and cloudy coolant in the reservoir. During the test drive the truck ran warm and wouldn't idle down, and after a short boot down the highway, the exhaust smelled a little burnt(I'm guessing bad head gaskets). Steering box and front end had quite a bit of play in it. Tranny was whinier than it should have been, too. And I'm almost positive the dashpad has been replaced- there was a little bit of a fitment issue on the driver's side corner.

I'm not gonna say that the owner was knowingly lying about the mileage, but I'd bet dollars to donuts the truck actually has 128K on it, not 28K, and that somebody did a really good job of keeping the body and interior in tiptop shape. I'd even guess the truck may have been repainted sometime in the past, because in the evening sun there were signs of hail damage.

Back to the drawing board, I guess. Needless to say, we're all feeling a little deflated right now....... :frown1:

Damn. Sucks man.

Keep at it, they're out there.

At the very least it's a reason for a CK5 cross border road trip.

What pisses me off is I told the guy flat out that I grew up with these trucks and have a pretty good understanding of what to look for, and even then he failed to mention any of the issues we eventually discovered. He even tried to pass off the cloudy coolant as "old, but you can swap it out when you pull the rad"...........good grief. :doah:

I have sold trucks with known issues, and they have always been more than fairly priced and I have been 100% honest with the buyers. People who hide mechanical issues behind a pretty exterior drive me up the wall.

Funniest(and saddest) part of the night is when he dropped his FIRM asking price by $1K when I started pointing out certain issues. Nice try, but you just lost al credibility. FFS.

Hahaha. Sounds like Michigan sellers.

If it's not horribly rusty it's "good shape".
If it's only got a little rust it's "excellent shape".
If it's only got a bit of rust here and there it's "pristine" or "mint".

Then when you point this out they say, "well, it's an old truck."

That is a VERY clean blazer, I use to see it here in town every once in awhile. I never looked at it up close. I think the price on that started out at $8500.00 down here.

Have you considered a military Blazer? They are getting fewer and fewer on GL.
