back up camera?

just built a spare tire carrier, now my rear view mirror is pretty much useless. just wondering if any one has a backup camera and what their expierence with it is. i was thinking about this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120386342477

I always felt the rear view mirror was pretty useless anyways. you never got a good view, either its on the cars on your azz or its on the ones way way back. i built my tire carrier offset anyways.

we use backup cameras on our work vans. horrible idea. what happens is , you get fixated on watching the objects get closer that you usually end up running into them. plus depth of field is horrible, they do a kind of fish eye on them and you can never really tell how close you are. they are mainly to see if anyone (PEOPLE/KIDS) are back there. not really for judging to back up IMO

That is why i built my tire carrier to swing from the drivers side. I have a nice clear view through my rearview mirror and if i need to swing my head toward the passenger side over my shoulder i still have a clear view.

I'm thinkin about a backup camera. It may not be the best and accurate but it would be nice to have.

i made the tire carrier swing down so its in the middle

Back up camera is good for hooking up to a trailer but not much else.
