Back window won’t roll up

I have a 1990 Blazer with power windows including the rear. Tonight I attempted to replace the window rail that had rusted out so that I could use my window. Once I had the new rail on the glass and started to line up the rollers to the rail I realized that my system would not roll up. The window rolled all the way down, but for the life of me I cannot get it to roll up. The blue cable that moves around when I roll down doesn’t move when I try to roll up. I inspected the cable and the end of it looks like it could be snapped, but I’m not sure because the window used to work. I looked on LMC at the tailgate diagrams for some guidelines, and found nothing useful. Has anyone experienced this issue and know what could be going on? Let me know if photos or videos would be useful.

Are you trying to roll the window up while the tailgate is in the down position? There’s a safety switch inside the gate that prevents you from operating the window in this position because the weight of the glass will shatter itself.

This. I have ran mine while the gate was down with a support under the glass as it rolls out. You have to close the left tailgate latch to make it work. Just flick it to the latched position while KEEPING YOU FINGERS OUT OF THE WAY. Ask me why.

I have tried every combination of latches, still nothing.

You can pull the latch out of the driver's side, unplug the safety switch there and bypass it with a piece of wire shoved into the connector.

I don’t need to ask why because I’m sure it’s the same thing that happened to me. :doah:

Just unscrew the cable from the motor and chuck up the end into a drill. Spin the drill and if the cable isn’t broke the window will move. You may have to reverse the drill if it’s trying to go down.

Using the cable eliminates dealing with the factory wiring. However you have to be careful moving the window out with the gate open. It’s easy to break that glass.
