"Backcountry Limo"

#1 Texting a guy about another suburban. Might just get another parts rig.

#2 Also have a line on a 04 chassis with a 6.0 in it. Runs with no cab on it.

Third option, build a new 5.7 right.

#2 is out. They don't want to sell the chassis yet. They're still hung up on building a travel all with it.

Let's talk pros and cons of each engine.
6.0 liter-5.7 liter
Power/torque
Cost of swap or rebuild
Reliability
Parts availability
Breakdown troubleshooting

I am interested to see what you end up doing. I can't reality contribute to the pro/cons discussion as I have never owned an LS motor or swapped one in.

Last April a guy at B & R quoted me 2000 for a 6.0 with all the accessories, computer and harness. I think they wanted 1400 for the 5.3. Not sure about the mileage on the motors, but my guess is they were low due to how clean they were. People are always saying how cheap they can get it done, so helpfully you can find some better deals then me.

My advice is get a craigslist 350 and get it back on the road fast and cheap. Then, start saving for the 6.0. Riding is pinsco63's burb after is 6.0 swap, I would never spend an unusual needed dime on a tbi motor again. His truck will roast the tires at will. And more importantly, it just runs awesome. Proper amount of torque and hp all the time.

Sweet! I would love a 6 liter in mine. Got the CL special waiting to go in...

So it is always a bad time of year to blow up a major component. This project is going to be the cheapest possible and not sure when it will be back on the road. I will be saving for an updated engine for sure. I might try and work some magic on my engine to put it back together or get a CL special. Either way, the yukon needs a cat really bad now also so the vehicle funding is low. Beings that I drive the KW daily the Burbank is on the back burner. :frown1:

Called my favorite engine builder in town. They never seize to amaze me. I used to use them a lot during my Toyota years. I got the yukon short block from them. I was checking prices and getting info this morning to make some decisions. Found out that my block is not really roller cam acceptable. It was slow at work today, so I took off to go see them in person. I still get the, "you can't do that, the computer won't like it." So I named dropped. Eagle Mark, you just haven't made enough of a splat on the pavement.:haha:

The good news and why I like these guys. I asked if they had a single piston. He goes upstairs and checks for a .030 over dished piston. He comes down with a dusty/dirty piston. I was pretty sure he wouldn't have one, let alone, the exact replacement from the same manufacturer. I knew I had a "Badger" piston, and turns out they did too.
1 piston & rings
1 complete gasket set
Main bearings
Rod bearings

Patching the engine together, and it will probably hold quite a while

Broken motor mounts. Less than 2k on them. Junk.

Poly mounts built and installed. Moving forward.
