Yikes...Hood bend is always a worry on that model. I very carefully shut and keep the hinges greased on my 78 K5. Probably need an extra hood on standby, knowing my luck.

Do these hood braces actually do any good?
These seem different than the ones I remember from the early 80's. Those worked then, but seemed thicker.
The hood on my '73.
Ok the hood stiffeners I remember would fill in the step up area at hinge end on that 73 hood.
I remember seeing hoods bend right at the front edge of the hinge.
