Baja Claw Radials, or BFG MTs (for daily driver)?

What about the Pro Comp M/T's??? They ride much better than the BFG's in rain/snow/ice because they have siping /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif The BFG's do have the cool sidewall tread now though so it is a toss up. Anywyas, just wanted to mention another choice

With directional tires do you have to carry a different style for a spare or do you just hope that you only get a flat on the one side? I guess you could carry 2 spares?Does this make any sense or am I way off?

[/ QUOTE ] I'll be running Ground Hawg's, and for a spare I'm thinking a TSL would be fine.

You can run directional tires backwards, they just don't work as well.

I am currently running 35" M/T Baja Claw Radials. I was suprised how much smoother and quieter they were over my previous "all-terrains". They work good in the mud, rocks, and snow. The tire shop rotates mine every 1500 miles for free. So far, they have worn very well. If you are not disciplined enough to do this, get something else. That goes for any directional <<<<< tread tire. Here's a pic

I had two sets of BFG muds on my K5 when it was still a daily driver and never had any complaints and wouldn't hesitate to put them on my current DD that never really sees any true off-road use. I also had a set of MT/R's on the K5 and while acceptable, they were not as good on the street when it came to handling, noise, or wear as the BFG's were.

Pro comp says not to run their tires in reverse rotation due to an angular belt design. I don't know if that is true but that is what they say.

I thought all radial tires had their belts going the same way? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nice truck! Makes me wish i still had my pickup /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. ANy ways, have you had them in DEEP mud, how did they work. How many miles have yuou put on them so far? and how many do you suspect to get while they will still have like an 1/8" of tread left? Same ? goes to the BFG guys /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

If you don't get at least 30k-40k out of a set of BFG Muds, you better check your [darn] out, cause something is jacked up.

Haven't been in DEEP mud yet. Mostly dirt, rocks, and pavement. Had them nearly a year. Put on around 5000 miles. Three rotations thus far. No sign of wear other than lugs torn by rocks and sheetmetal. I have no idea how many miles I will get out of them.

I've seen more wear in 2,000 miles on my tsl's than i've seen in 20,000 on my BFG muds.
