Balance Beads... counterintuitive?

Roundness is not the same as balanced.
How round are these tires and how straight are the wheels?

The tires being Toyo's I would hope they were of a higher quality and truly round. The rims, on the other hand, although quite heavy, are definitely out of round. You can see it when you spin them on the truck.

I was looking at some Raceline RT81 Rock 8 beadlock wheels, does anyone have experience with these?

They are about my only other option when it comes to 15" 8-lugs that are heavy duty. I found some other steel wheels on Summit but they're only rated for 1,500lb a piece, which is definitely not enough for this truck.

It's possible remounting the tires made the difference. As in, the wheel and tire are both out of round, but the new orientation made it closer overall. It's like how they say to rotate a tire on the rim 180 if it won't balance.

I have suspicions that out-of-round messes up distribution of the beads. Won't they tend to stick in areas of larger radius?

Have rotated tires on rim many times, to correct balance issues requiring a lot of balance weight.
Tire mf'r used to mark the lighter side of tire, then you put that mark in line with the valve stem.
Only the better mfrs still do this.

Well pulled the beads out of the rear tires today. Smashed it down the highway and held at different speed 60,65, 70, and up to 85. Still seems to be better than before. My tire guy is going to hold the beads he ordered up for a little while in case I want to throw them in there anyway. All for science lol

I don’t know what your problem is lol
I would definitely chose beads over weights.
I like the thicker wall white air soft BBs. 16oz each tire. Why? Because you buy a 4lb bucket and divide by 4 hahaha

Worked for my
38x15.5 MT Baja and Toyo
37x12.5 Toyo
40x13.5 Toyo
All speeds between 1-85mph are good.

Got a 3 pound bucket of iron bbs in my 265/75/17 Blizzak LTs, running 50 psi on the road. Were hearing growl and feeling something rumbling in the driveline, but that's VERY likely the u joints that haven't been looked at in over 20 years. No tire vibe or wobbles.
