Balancer for gen VI 454

I’m not much help, but I have a GEN five and it does NOT have a mechanical fuel pump provision. That engine supposedly came out of a BLM fire truck that rolled. It had some stuck valves and broke some push rods when I got it. I think I just pulled a good push. Rod measured it and ordered some from Summit. They may have been melling brand if I remember right it’s been a while.

With respect to the questions about how GM would have sold those parts; yes to all. A Chevy dealer could have sold individual parts, crate engine assemblies, etc to individuals or builders - money is money!

Ok those are Peanut port heads, the 156 casting came on my gen vi, but my head had a different valve adjustment system. your picture show gen iv adjustment system.

My gen vi 156 heads, you can see it's just torque down and go rocker bolt, not the stud and nut style. I think you should try a search for gen iv push rods.

@Fastereddie I can’t remember, do the gen v’s use the smaller bolt count timing cover like the gen vi?
I don’t remember for sure. It’s been 8 yrs or so since i’ve had my head in there! I wanna say it is the old style metal one though.
These are the only pics I have for some reason.

With respect to block identification I was thinking the timing coming was an easy way -

2 pc rear main seal = mark iv
1 pc rear main seal w/ early cover = mark v
1 pc rear main seal w/ 6 bolt timing cover = gen vi

I thought I read something about GEN five heads only working on a GEN five because of the cooling ports or something. And GEN six was backwards compatible with Mark four or is that wrong Info?

That’s my understanding as well. My post above was just referring to the block itself.

I thought the heads were non adjustable valve train for v’s and back to adjustable in vi’s, is that correct?

I think Wes has gen 6 that is non-adjustable. I think the gen 6 went to roller cam /lifters
