After googling quite a bit, it seems that the crank failures that exist with the 6.2's are tied (at least partially) to harmonic balancer deterioration. Are you guys running GM or aftermarket balancers, and if so which ones (with part numbers, please)?

Do you need balancers for the one I sold you or the one in the other truck?
I have 3 clean balancers I will sell cheap.

Good question!..

I was wondering if any better balancers than the stock style are available for a 6.2 also..like a "Fluidamper" one,etc..never see any mentioned for diesels in Jegs,etc...:confused: --if I bother to replace mine someday,I'd rather use one better than OEM of possible..

I personnaly haven't heard of any replacement aftermarket like the fluidamper.
 
That's mostly what I was interested in: aftermarket improvements. I sure haven't found any in my research.

Thanks, iceman, but the one that's on there actually looks pretty good. :D

Now if I could only get some free time to get it in the truck and running. :rolleyes:
 
The following is an e-mail response to a question I sent to Vibratech, which manufactures Fluidampr products.

"I do understand the crank problems on the 6.2L & 6.5L engines which is why we are currently developing a Fluidampr that will work on the late model 6.2L & 6.5L engines. This Fluidampr will also work on the earlier 6.2L engines however the damper will need to be spaced out about 5/8" between the crank gear & damper. The stock damper on the earlier 6.2L engines had a longer hub. The part number is 800141 and hopefully will be available in 6 to 8 weeks."




By the way, the GM part number for the OE damper is 14022671, if anyone is interested.
 
Bully Dog also makes a fluid damper for the 6.5L. That being the case, I now assume you could just space it out 5/8" and it would also work on the early 6.2's. Part number 63101.
 
I don't think either one is shipping yet. Other than a part # I haven't found any info on the Bully Dog either.
 
The Bully Dog is made by Fluidampnr, only the stickers are different. Shipping won't be until Feb.:(
 
I didn't get an exact price, but they're sure proud of it: it's gonna be $300-$400 :eek1:
 
I've heard price will be as mentioned 3- 400. I'm getting one. One of the "extras" I figured would be good for my build. I can also wait another month or two for them to come out as my build is in pieces:rolleyes:.
