Does anyone know what ball joint to buy if you are just building for manly street use and 33" tires?
Mevotech, AC Delco, Moog, Spicer, Yukon, Proforged, Centric, Dorman, Napa gold, blablabla!
Or go full bore Dynatrac, or kingpin conversion?
Ready, get set, GO!

i dont care if its for street use . . . all that labor / time / dirty hands / work = BEST you can get .

i my self have had great luck with moog or moog problem solver over the years . spicer or trw would be the other option .

and for good price rockauto.com

as to king pin conversion thats all i run is dana 60 with king pins other than my 2wd truck and its got moog in it .

As said, do it with one of the brands mentioned since it’s a lot of work to use something cheap with a lifetime warranty. Don’t forget about checking the axle shaft u-joints and spindle bearings as long as you have it torn down. Do you have a spanner socket for the upper ball joint?

Funny I just left the parts store yesterday with all new moog ball joints
An I see this
Also if you are tearing the ball joints good idea to have the bearings on hand as well (dont forget the races and seals)
I figured if I'm in there "might as well replace everything" that way I'm not in there again
Because Murphy is always there went you dont want him to be

I used the Mevotech. They seem to be a good quality unit and rumor has it they come out of the same factory as Moog.

na just dana friends of the smaller variety over the big 60 version or in some guys world a 70 front .
I can't drive like I use to when I had a trailer and didn't care if my truck looked like a raisin!

Was wanting to get a little moe information about some usage and compared notes of failures and cost. By the way all of those options I listed in my original post are for dana 44 and 10 bolt front axles I am not looking at 1 ton swap. Also thanks for the reminders we are completely rebuilding from the ball joints out. But only looking for slightly better than stock components for this axle. Hopefully this can be a one stop post for ball joint information.

The stock component OEM spicer will work very good for you. There used to be a brand building an upper that could be greased without axle shaft removal, always liked that idea. If you are going to have the axles out to do the ball joints, you should do the axle seals (in the diff). If you don't you will probably wish you did at some point.

I’m having BJ issues too.

I work in a hot rod/ race car shop and the old timer mechanic there is a Square body nut too.

He says Moog > Spicer.

I have a set of Moogs ready for install I just need to get caught up on all the paying work before I can fix my own hobby work.

My biggest problem is they keep popping out of the bore in the knuckle. I think the hole is wallered out.
If so, I have another set of knuckles.
Maybe I botched the install but I don’t think so.

I’ll check back k with results later.

You can get BJ's with a knurled outside to fix extra wear in the knuckles but I think they are only good for one round then the knuckles have to be replaced
