Restoring a 79 Blazer with some mild mods
I found out the other day with an '88 Blazer that the safety switch in the back is only used for rolling the window up. So my guess is that is your problem. I chased SO many wires, assuming that the safety switch was good, because it would roll down from inside.

Martin
I thought about that laying in bed last night. It could be that. I know on my 79 it will allow it go up but not down so kind of the opposite problem. I may try to jumper that just to see if thats the issue. Regardless, window will have to be disconnected and out while the regulator gets moved down so I can access the key part. I think the contacts are burned out or something. I know the plug to the motor looked like it got too hot at one point and I put a new plug on thinking that was it but didn't help. Could be both switches are defective.

Now the 79 K5 and its Mini Me (Traxxas TRX4 K5) are twins with the same plate! Even the wheels are the same. I only wish I did the smaller sport mirrors and had the factory 3 post holes filled. Body shop talked me out of it.

That last photo is super realistic looking. The chrome is so shiny.

I stole that off Traxxas website and it does look real. Its pretty cool some of the videos they have made of the K5 itself.

Wouldn't mind adding the headlight option...

Got the new seats installed today and just sat the console in for now. Never opened up the recently purchased console but somebody made a cooler out of it. WTF? I guess you need to keep your beers cold while you drive!

Also got the shiny bumper on it. Wow, what a difference! Its an aftermarket, and I'm not that impressed but it still looks WAY better than all the used ones I found plus the bent one that was on it. Used new bumper bolts too.

Drove it to the wrap shop today and dropped off the weathered tailgate band to get it done in brushed aluminum to make it look decent again. They don't sell them for 80 and older unfortunately. God this thing rides rough! Need to decrease some pressure but I hate these springs that are on it. Probably crappy RC in front... Still waiting for the damn body trim to ship. Few pieces are on back order for God knows how long... :surepal:

That was pretty common around here when I was a kid/high school. Most people would drill a hole through the bottom, and through the floor, and install a drain tube.

Really? Not sure if I should keep it or remove it... It does make it smaller. This one has no drain tube and they duct taped the front holes. Makes me wonder if there might be some mold in there...

I also fixed butchered harness when the bumper was off. Drivers tail light refused to work until I got rid of this hack.

The top was still showing some imperfections since the previous paint shop did nothing to address the chips on it. So I Rhino lined the top. I think it turned out pretty good and has that factory textured look. He only charged me $300 to do it which I thought was very reasonable. What do you guys think? I could of had it repainted gloss black and fix all the imperfections but I was looking at $1000.

Trim molding coming next...

Where are you getting your molding from?

USA1 Industries had the best prices on the molding. Got the entire set and sold the old molding. They were slow since they were missing 2 pieces and would not send what they had in stock. Finally got it all.

When you get it on make sure to let us know your feelings on it. I need to do it on my 78.

Not sure if you went down this road yet but I finally had some time to get most of the trim on. Most of it went on nice except for the front fenders. The way they molded the metal where it bends around the turn signal was not as good as factory. It looks ok but if you look really close, its not as nice as the factory piece. This is only the front fenders. Other than that the fitment was good and all the other pieces fit and look great. I did have to drill another small hole in the drivers fender for the lower trim but that was about it since the original hole was off by 1/8". One other thing is all the screws are silver where they go into the black. I'd suggest painting those first before installing. I might go over with small brush and paint them.

Here she is on the drivers side. Still need to finish the passenger side and rear tailgate.

Did some work to the cluster area Both oil pressure, fuel and temp gauges were not reading correctly. Found a replacement on Ebay but it had a little rust on the gauge faces as you can see here. Was going to clean it up but then....

I Found this nice gem locally. Needed some TLC such as good cleaning first. Needles were faded so those got painted. Lens was scratched good so I replaced the lens with one from LMC. Came out nice! I wish I would have taken a "before" picture. Lets just hope the tach works... All the other gauges appear to work ok when I plug in the harness. Going to hook it up today.

Great find on the tach cluster!

I like the rhino liner/textured look on the top as well

Thanks! Turned out better than expected. Great option if your top has chips or is in rough shape.
