so, after eleventy thousand cuts, my original blade on my Grizzly 7 x 12 G0561

finally popped...

the stocker was, to my surprise, a pretty burly 6 TPI blade....... while it chewed thru thousands of tube/plate cuts horozontally, it definitely was not vertical, hand-feed friendly.... to say the least.... ;)

should i consider something finer? something in the 10 to 14 TPI range? i'd like to gain vertical, hand-feed capability, but still the vast majority of my work will remain horizontal tube/plate chew-thru's, and i don't want to lose much "performance/durability" in that regard.......

any experienced input appreciated... :)

Don’t kno about that bout I just got my first blades from sawblades.com. They’re supposed to be the cats pajamas so I’ll hope to know more in the coming weeks.

i look at them..... :)

i'm definitely not complaining about the quality of the stock blade.. I beat the ever-livin snot out of it... :hack: :hack: :saweet:

I just have zero, vertical, metal bandsaw experience... wood yes, metal, no...

I'm not even sure how much vertical work I'm looking to do, but... ya know, TOOLS!!!!!!! :woot: :saweet: :hack: :usaflag:

nope, bi-metal.. it's a metal cutting saw I'm assuming it's a metal blade.. :haha:

it did surprise me.... i didn't even realize it was that burly till i went to use it vertical one day and realized how aggressive it was....

i mean i don't have any complaints about its performance chewing thru plate and tube.... and i feel it earned its keep before it snapped... and to be honest, it was my fault anyway... the saw had started tracking a bit off, and i was too lazy to go in and adjust it, i'm sure that helped lead to that blades demise..

i don't mind it taking a bit longer to go thru material, if it affords me the vertical ability.. you couldn't even attempt to feed tube thru it vertically..

I just don't have any vertical metal experience to know what kind of TPI # will get me good/decent performance for both.

I read that you want at least three teeth of engagement. Naturally thinner material = more tpi. So for 1/4" material you want at least 12 TPI. for 3/16" You'd want 16 TPI.

I go more course then fine to finish my cuts faster. I have no patients.
