Bandsaw VS chopsaw

The advantage of the chop saw over the band saw would be portability and space savings I would say. Otherwise go with the band saw. Though sometimes it can be awkward to cut a long piece when it needs to be propped up high enough for the band saw to work. With the chop saw, you just have it on the ground and then put a 2x4 piece of wood under the far end of your work piece

My brother has a chop saw that he has used for well over 15 years now. It gets stored under the work bench. He had a band saw on a rolling cart but it was purchased from a warehouse auction for about $30. Worked good for awhile and then developed a problem where the blade kept coming off. He got tired of messing with it and sold it for like $50 about 2 years later.

A high quality saw isn't that loud.
And cuts pretty quick. While I do like the to set it and walk away aspect myself. If I had a cold saw it would be something to get use to. But I think it would be fast enough it would be ok.

Those ones are not very budget friendly though! LOL.

How bout we morph the two together and further complicate things. Chop saw meets band saw. Eh!

Or there is this cute little guy. I haven't personally been around it but I saw a YouTube channel where a guy had one and liked it. It's the Trajan Q700 7" Carbide saw.

I don't use my chopsaw much because of how slow it is. The disc is at least 1/4" thick and I just haven't gotten around to trying something else. Is it safe to just grab one of those really thin metal cutting discs for it? If it cut like my hand grinder and not make the steel glow red in the process it would get used way more.

There are different thickness abrasive discs for a standard 14" chop saw. My one at work for hydraulic hoses has the super thick ones like you do and they suck for metal. I have used the thinner ones at other employers and they cut way faster and better.

sounds like mine is the same as yours. It’s already for sale. :)

Yup, those thin blades will cut much faster

I have a bunch of these and they work great for the the horizontal band saw with 20' sticks

I went out and bought 6 of them to build a whole line of rollers. Problem was they were to tall for my bandsaw. So I had to spend 1/2 a day building a rolling stand to elevate the bandsaw to a height to work with the stands.
I didn't want to modify the stands because they also work great with my tablesaw and miter saw.

my bandsaw has a lift kit with locking casters. And i also bought them originally for my chop saw but they also work with my tube bender.
