I have powerlocks and a keyless entry remote on my 89 Sub with barn doors. When I hit the unlock button(or use the door switch), somtimes the barn doors stay locked, and sometimes they unlock. As far as I know, they have no problem locking, just unlocking. I can hear something in the rear doors click each time I hit the button, but sometimes it doesn't actually unlock.

What part could this be that isn't working? Could it be the door lock actuator? Or is there a broken latch?

If its intermittent, its just sticky. If the actuator was dead, it would be just that, dead.

Take apart teh door panels, and lube everything that moves related to the locks. I had slow windows/locks in my 91, and someone reccomended a product called jiga-loo.

Worked pretty good, think i got it at walmart. Lots of lubes will work, but more often that not, they gum up over time. Try that product out.

Jigga-loo is king!

I did all the internals on my doors (my barn doors are welded shut...) and everything is working amazingly.

It's a dry graphite lube, it won't collect dirt, and dust. It sprays on like a paint almost.

I thought my power locks were shot, but then I spray that jazz all over my moving parts, and everything works amazingly. All freed up!

my 96 'hoe

My '96 Tahoe did that same thing. I was too lazy to fix it.

mine did same thing took it in to get it fixed, as it was under warranty....turned out it was the 4 copper knobs in the jamb that make contact when you close the door were just corroded....:doah:the doors won't lock if they are open...now when they do it, i just wirebrush the wireless contacts and its good for another couple of months!

I had a problem with the 91' burb we used to have where the peg on the back side of the button on the barn door would flex up over the toggle plate its suposed to push on and get stuck over the plates sharp top edge. The button would not retract back out so the door latch would be in the open posistion. Even if you slammed the door it would not unstick the botton and the door would not latch, it would just bounce open.

I had to replace the button since the plunger on the back of the button was now in a permanent bent or flexed posistion. I had to fix the toggle plate so it would not allow the plunger to pop up over the edge. it was a pain in the ass. So far my 89' burb has not had this problem, but if it does I know what to do. If I push in on the door handle before I push on the button it did not get stuck as much. I make it a point to do this on my 89' aswell.
